Message from Dean Busch:

This will be very random & possibly of interest to a few members that were present in the late 80's.

Having surfed the net, I located the Clubs website, which brought back many historical memories.
In 1987 & 1988 I had 2 memorable, cold but memorable, seasons at Horsforth CC.
Amazing to see photos & profiles on the likes of Andrew Bentley, Peter Tooley, Big Bruce Rainford, Bill Davis & Chris Binks who were all at the club 20 years ago!  (I noted some absent profiles, on the likes of likes of JK, & Andrew Roberts.)

Kingsley Smith (who was at Horsforth in the early 90's) & I ended up playing several successful seasons together in Hamilton NZ through the mid 90's.  We've both now ended up in Tauranga (on the East Coast of the North Island) & have been playing for the Mount Maunganui 1stX1 in the Bay Of Plenty competition, which is part of our Northern Districts Association.

I recall during my first season at HCC, I travelled to England with Murphy Su'a.  (We were school & Club mates in Hamilton.)
Murph played in the Bradford League & made a few guest appearances at HCC.  I remember him sending shudders through the slip cordon let alone through the waiting batting order with his pace.  I reckon we never saw his full pace when he later went on to play for NZ.

As I said, a random collection of historical memories!

I'd like to think that there may be someone at HCC looking for an off season in NZ at some time in the future.  As such, It would be my pleasure to assist with arrangements etc in an effort to "give back" to HCC.

My thoughts & best wishes to everyone that can remember back to 87/88, and good luck for the 2007 season!
